Chimp Challenge 2008!

Alright, it’s that time of year again! Time for the third annual Chimp Challenge! What is it you ask? Well, take a break and read up.

What is it?

The Chimp Challenge is a race to accumulate the most F@H points. The winner gets the coveted “Jaded Monkey”. For the loser, the dreaded cursed monkey’s paw awaits. It’s not for the faint of heart, for their will be much smack talk and poo flinging. In the initial race of 2006, we suffered defeat at the hands of the Maximum PC monkeys. But in 2007 we triumphed and and avenged our defeat! This year brings two new challengers to the race. The apes from [H]ardOCP and the chimps from down under, OCAU.

How can achieve victory again?

You wanna spank those other monkeys eh? Well the best way to satisfy that urge is to fold like a crazy monkey on our team name! Simply set the username to “T32monkeys”, without the quotes, and set the team number to 32. That’s it! So simple even a monkey could do it!

When does it start?

The Chimp Challenge 2008 starts on cinco de mayo (May 5th for you non-Spanish speaking chimps) at 12pm noon, Pacific Daylight Time (Stanford time). We are racing to 5 million points this year, so be ready to leave those “other” chimps in the dust.

More information.

OCF “March Madness” Folding Contest!!

OCF “March Madness” Folding Contest

The Prize

Intel Q6600 G0

This contest is being sponsored by our friend and teammate cuda340, also known as Bayna. I’d like to thank him for being so generous and supplying our prize. I was also asked to specify that this is an open box Q6600, just so everything is clear. The winner will be shipped the processor free of charge if they reside in either the Continental US or Canada. If the winner is outside those areas they will be responsible for the shipping charge.

Rules

<– Sign ups: Monday, March 3rd @ 12:00am CST through Saturday, March 15th @ 11:59pm CST.

A thread will be available for sign-ups and be LINK’D HERE. You must have a post in the sign-up thread with your Folding ID by the sign-up deadline to participate.

– Contest duration: Sunday, March 16th @ 12:00am CST through April 12th @ 11:59pm CDT.

Be aware there is a daylight savings time change within the contest period. Also, the contest has been aligned with the Folding week and EOC week so you can better track your progress.

<– What you need to do: Fold WUs for Team 32. Each WU Folded for Team 32 within the contest period will earn each participant one entry for the prize drawing… think about it like a raffle.

This contest is not about points… it’s about science! You do not need the latest hardware, a large Folding farm, or otherwise to participate in this contest and have a chance at winning. All those things will certainly help increase your chances, but a participant who Folds only one WU within the contest period still has one chance to win the prize. A participant with a single machine can win this contest. OCF members from our SETI and Benchmarking Teams can win this contest, and we openly invite them to participate.

This contest is open to any and all who sign-up and Fold WUs for Team 32 within the contest period. That also includes Folders from other Teams who decide to sign-up and Fold WUs for Team 32, so spread the word.

The bottom line is, to better your chances of winning- Fold more WUs, and thus do more science, for Team 32. Simple.

Admin

The contest calculations and entries will be administered by yours truly. I take this duty seriously and I hope all who participate are confident that the contest will administered fairly. I am honored to be able to serve such a great Team and Forum.

– Minimums & Goals: We need a minimum of 20 participants to run this contest. I’m sure that won’t be a problem. Our goals here are to boost the production of current Team 32 members and, more importantly, recruit new members into our great Team and Project.

– Questions? – Please post in this thread.
